Staying Safe at Home

Staying Safe at Home

Spring is well and truly upon us so it’s the perfect time to consider doing a little home improvement. Alongside the usual spring cleaning it’s a great time to consider the importance of home safety.

While minor accidents may seem inevitable by taking some simple steps and investing in some high quality equipment, you can make sure your home is well protected against the danger of fire.

Generally Safety Tips

In addition to supplying your home with first-rate fire protection equipment here are some First Reaction home protection tips you should consider year-round:

  1. Check Fire Alarm Regularly – Make a weekly habit of checking your fire alarm as well as regularly changing the batteries.
  2. Night-time Safety Check – Before going to bed turn off all unnecessary appliances and outlets. Blow out any candles and safely dispose of any cigarette ends. Make sure all interior doors are closed.
  3. Exercise caution and avoid leaving the kitchen unattended whilst cooking. If absolutely necessary, turn heat to a low setting until you return.

We hope that these simple tips can provide some peace of mind. Additionally, we recommend any First Reaction’s quality products to help keep your home safe.

First Reaction Products

At First Reaction we stock a variety of fire safety equipment suitable for any home. Every item in our store is high quality and can be relied upon in the event of an emergency.

Fire Extinguisher

No home should be without a high quality fire extinguisher. This first line of defence should be stored in an easy-to-reach location. The last thing you need to worry about in an emergency situation is remembering where you keep the fire extinguisher.

At First Reaction we stock a range of fire extinguishers that can be used on class A, B, C, F type fires and are also suitable for use on live electrical equipment. Each one comes with a five-year warranty and is 100% environmentally friendly.

Burn Dressings

Accidental burns can easily occur in the kitchen due to a moment’s lapse of attention. It’s good to keep burn dressings on hand in a convenient location in your kitchen. These can be used on scalds or burns, keeping the wounds clean and free from infection.

Fire Blankets

Oil fires in the kitchen can be easily taken care of using a fire blanket from First Reaction. The fire blanket eliminates the oxygen and after 17 minutes will completely cool the oil stopping the oil from reigniting.
